The Best Investment Bags is a phrase I’ve been using for years, often cautiously, because not every iconic handbag truly deserves that label. With time, experience, and a wardrobe that has seen trends come and go, I’ve learned to recognize which bags actually earn their place — not just in a closet, but in real life.
When it comes to The Best Investment Bags to Buy in 2026, the question isn’t about hype or seasonal obsession. It’s about longevity, wearability, brand consistency, and that quiet confidence a bag gives you when you reach for it year after year. I’ve owned, used, loved — and sometimes resold — many designer bags, and that experience changes how you look at “investment” pieces.
This isn’t about chasing the next It-bag or predicting speculative resale values. It’s about understanding which bags make sense today, in a more thoughtful, intentional approach to luxury. If you’re considering a designer bag that feels right now and still will in ten years, you’re in the right place.
Because when you decide to spend a certain amount on a beautiful bag, you want to know if it’s a good “investment”, an accessory capable not only to satisfy all the practical needs that a bag, even a designer handbag, must meet, but above all to make your outfits even more elegant and to last over the years.

To acquire its “It bag” status, a bag usually has to be characterized by a certain mix of elements: it must be immediately recognizable, but in a subtle and never tacky way, it must be versatile but elegant and not too easily accessible.
In addition, it must have a modern, but also classic and clean design.
So I tried to draw up a list of what I believe to be, in 2026, the absolutely best handbags to buy, the classic pieces to focus on when you decide to invest in a new handbag. And here’s a list of the best designer handbags to invest in 2026!
1 – CHANEL 2.55
What to say? It’s the classic of the classics and no, it doesn’t age you, you just have to combine it well. I own it and I absolutely recommendthe Jumbo version in Caviar leather. You’ll use it a lot and it’s definitely still one of the best designer bags for 2026.

4 – BOTTEGA VENETA ANDIAMO BAG

If you’re looking for a modern investment bag with strong long-term potential, the Bottega Veneta Andiamo deserves your attention. Introduced under Matthieu Blazy’s creative direction, it perfectly captures the brand’s quiet luxury aesthetic: understated, logo-free, yet instantly recognizable thanks to the iconic intrecciato leather.
What makes it interesting from an investment perspective? First, it’s not trend-driven. The clean silhouette, structured shape and refined top handle give it timeless appeal. Second, Bottega Veneta positions itself in the high-luxury segment with controlled distribution, which generally supports value retention.
In my view, the Andiamo is ideal if you want a sophisticated everyday bag that feels current now but won’t look dated in five years. Choose classic shades like black, fondant or barolo for the safest long-term value.

5 – MIU MIU WANDER
I have to say it: the Miu Miu Wander is just such a cute bag. It has that slightly retro, slightly playful vibe that makes an outfit instantly more interesting — even if you’re just wearing jeans and a blazer.
What I love most is the soft matelassé leather and the rounded shape. It feels feminine and special, but still easy enough for everyday use. It’s not a “serious” classic like a structured top-handle bag — and that’s exactly the point. It has personality.
From an investment perspective, this is more of a fashion-forward piece. Miu Miu has been incredibly strong in the past seasons, and the Wander has become one of the brand’s signature styles. If you choose a neutral colour and keep it in great condition, it can absolutely hold its value well — especially if the model continues to be in demand.
If you love bags the way I do, this is the kind of piece you buy not only with your head, but also a little bit with your heart.

Here are the designer bags that, in my opinion, truly deserve the title of investment pieces — timeless, desirable, and still relevant years from now.
6 – GUCCI GIGLIO

Let’s talk about the Gucci Giglio — one of those bags I always find myself coming back to. It’s elegant but with a relaxed feel, making it super easy to wear day to night. The soft leather and curved shape give it this effortless chic vibe that just works with everything in your wardrobe.
What I personally love? It’s comfortable to carry, doesn’t feel fussy, and still looks luxurious without shouting logo. That mix of understated style and quality craftsmanship is exactly why it’s worth considering if you’re thinking about investment bags — especially in classic colours like black, brown or beige.
From a value point of view, the Giglio isn’t a crazy trend piece, it’s more like a quietly stylish classic. If you look after it and choose timeless hues, it’s the type of bag that can stay relevant for years — and that’s exactly what we want in a good investment piece.

7 – DEMELLIER NEW YORK

I’m honestly obsessed with DeMellier New York — especially if you love bags that feel chic, modern and actually wearable every single day. The brand has this British-meets-New-York energy: clean lines, great leather, beautiful hardware, but nothing too loud. It’s the kind of bag you grab on repeat because it just works with everything.
What makes DeMellier interesting for investment lovers? They’ve built such a strong following that some styles — especially in classic colours like black, camel or cream — tend to stay popular season after season. They’re not crazy hyped like some heritage luxury brands, but that’s part of the appeal: understated elegance that doesn’t scream logo but still feels very good.
If you’re building a collection and want pieces that feel stylish now and won’t look dated later, DeMellier is a brand I genuinely use and love — and I think a few of their silhouettes deserve a spot in your investment bag radar too.

8 – HERMÈS BIRKIN BAG

The Birkin Bag is, of course, the ultimate investment bag. I think its price is really exorbitant, but it’s also a handbag that you can use and love forever, and looks amazing with every possible style.
It’s a great classic and one of the bag dreams of many women, so it deserves a place on this list by right!

These days it is very difficult to get a Birkin in a boutique.
Therefore, a great alternative can be to buy it vintage, often almost new, online.
You also find a great choice for the Kelly Bag, which many women (myself included) now prefer to the Birkin bag as a more modern, trendy option to the Birkin bag.

9 – CÉLINE TRIOMPHE BAG
Let’s talk about the Céline Triomphe — one of my favourite go-to pieces in the world of investment bags. It feels effortlessly elegant and so wearable. The sleek silhouette and that iconic Triomphe logo hardware give it a refined look without ever feeling loud or flashy.
What I love about it? It’s the perfect mix of timeless and modern. Whether you’re in a blazer and jeans or a dress for dinner, the Triomphe always elevates the look without trying too hard. And from an investment standpoint, Céline bags have been strong performers — especially styles with clean lines and classic shapes like this one.
Choose a neutral colour (think black, camel, cream) and keep it in great condition — this is the kind of handbag that stays relevant year after year. Perfect if you want a piece that pays off both in wear-ability and long-term appeal.

10 – YSL ICARE BAG
The YSL Icare is one of those bags I absolutely adore — sleek, modern, and effortlessly cool. It has that signature Saint Laurent edge without feeling too heavy or serious. The structured shape and minimal branding make it super easy to style with everything from tailored outfits to laid-back weekend looks.
What I love about this bag is how it manages to be both timeless and fashion-forward. It’s not a loud logo bag, but you know it’s luxury — just in that chic, understated way. From a collection perspective, the Icare holds its own: classic enough to feel like a staple, but still interesting enough to catch attention.
For investment lovers, this is the kind of piece that wears beautifully over time. In classic neutrals like black or beige, it tends to stay desirable and stylish for years — a great balance of everyday versatility and long-term appeal.

11 – PRADA BONNIE BAG
The Prada Bonnie is one of my favourite modern classics. It somehow feels both fresh and timeless — clean lines, soft leather, and that subtle Prada presence that doesn’t need to shout. It’s elegant, easy to wear, and just works with everything, from oversized blazers to summer dresses.
What I personally love? The shape is so flattering and refined, but still relaxed enough to carry every day without fuss. It’s one of those bags you don’t have to think twice about — you just grab it and go.
From an investment bag perspective, the Bonnie hits that sweet spot between wearable and desirable. Prada continues to be a strong brand in the luxury market, and this silhouette has that classic-but-current energy that helps it stay relevant year after year. Neutral colours like black, tan, or dove grey make it even more timeless and likely to hold its value.
If you’re building a collection with both heart and strategy, the Prada Bonnie is a piece you’ll reach for again and again.

Vegan bag designed by designer Stella McCartney, this great classic in vegan leather never fails to impress and amaze: I had it since many years and I love it, it’s comfortable and decorative and is also one of the bags that most often arouses interest (and requests about where to buy one!) when I go around.

13 – LOEWE PUZZLE BAG

LOEWE’s Puzzle shoulder bag has been a fan favorite for years. It’s made of leather that was hand-stitched and cut into geometric panels, which gives it an interesting multifaceted look – perfect to reflect the company’s diverse identity!
It can be carried in five ways: Over the shoulder, across the body, on the back, or in the hand as a tote or clutch.

15 – GUCCI 1955 HORSEBIT
The Gucci 1955 Horsebit is such an icon — one of those bags that instantly feels classic no matter the season. With its elegant lines, rich leather and that signature horsebit detail, it’s the perfect mix of heritage and everyday luxury.
What I love about this bag? It never feels trendy-fast or gimmicky — it just looks good. It elevates even the simplest outfit, but it’s still effortless enough to wear daily. That timeless appeal is exactly why it’s a great pick if you care about investment pieces: it’s consistently in demand and has genuine staying power in the resale world.
Go for neutral tones like black, brown or cream to maximize versatility and long-term value. It’s one of those bags you’ll still be glad you bought years from now.

To each his own. Lest you forget that styles must suit a woman’s age, circumstances and personal choice. No one knows better than the lady herself.
Hi Jenny, yes, of course, this are simply suggestions about handbags I would personally buy as investment bags.
Why Celine is not here??

Thank you!
The Chanel bag you show as the 2.55 is incorrect. The 2.55 was designed by Coco Chanel in Feb. 1955, hence 2.55. The bag seen here was designed when Karl Lagerfeld joined Chanel. Both classics, but quite different from each other.
All these shoulder bags are versatile, stylish, and charming, for any occasion. Whether you’re roaming around, heading to work, or going out to a party, a shoulder bag is the perfect way to carry all of your essentials in style. Thanks for sharing these beautiful bags.
I’m glad you liked them!
